Description

Final evaluation of the research ethics and the general ethical compliance of the participants and the project's outcomes, based on the monitoring and the management done throughout the duration of task 1.3

Abstract

The present document summarises the ethical implications of sensitive data management throughout the entire project. The mitigation strategies have been described in deliverable D7.1 and consist of promoting any ethical discussion and reporting every three months, if necessary, to define the emerging ethical issues.
As the overall aim of RefMap is to promote a sustainable aviation business in agreement with the guidelines published by the European Commission in the matter of green economy, the present project used many AI models to achieve this goal. The data used for the training and testing have two different origins, internal and external data. Mainly, the data have been collected by the consortium partners, which are the legal owners and responsible for their use.
Available data in literature or data made available by public or private agencies are also utilised. For this reason, the data collection is subjected to ethical restrictions.
During the project, a mailing list has been created for dissemination activities with the scope of promoting the latest project outcomes to both the academic and industrial stakeholders. More details about the ethical issues related to the dissemination activities and personal data management can be found in the Deliverable D1.8 Research ethics monitoring report.
It is worth noting that all the scientific results are subject to the copyright rules. The access is guaranteed under the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). This implies that only the RefMap members can modify the data and use them, for any purpose linked to RefMap, after the project ends. In addition, all the members made available the research data to the official publication in highly impactful, international journals using the storage clouds managed by their institutions. Thus, the partners are directly responsible for the scientific data management.
