RefMap aims to reduce environmental footprint through transformative multi-scale aviation planning. Thus, it aims to develop a digital service focused on quantifying environmental footprints of air mobility for airliners and UAS where single-trajectories (micro) and the flow traffic of multiple vehicles (macro) are optimised to minimise the environmental impact in communities. By using environmental data, such as wind, noise, CO2 and non-CO2 emissions, RefMap's analytics platform will help airlines make more eco-friendly decisions. This will lead to stricter evidence-based “green” policymaking in the aviation sector and the development of new aviation business models in line with the EU's Green Agenda

RefMap seeks aviation expertise  

In the effort to identify and rank the features and functionality of the RefMap platform, we aim to engage the aviation community, which can shed light on the formation of this platform/service with its expertise and insights. Thus, we intend to conduct several interviews with valued members of the aviation community, gathering valuable information and feedback. The specific purpose of our survey is to assess the tools with the highest value, identify priorities, and discuss future aviation scenarios as well as additional applications and improvements of the RefMap services.

These interviews will take place online, and are estimated to last about an hour. The identity of participants will be kept confidential in any publications of the results. During the interviews, we will present to the participants 9 real life scenarios tailored to specific RefMap features and potential problems within them, followed by various multiple-choice and open end questions. We will also show to them how RefMap can be used to solve these problems. Experts will then be asked to evaluate the identified problems and the estimated contribution of RefMap to solving them. This process will help prioritise the characteristics of RefMap, which in turn will form the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) features for piloting the RefMap platform, collecting user feedback, and integrating it into the final version. Furthermore, the prioritised characteristics and the experts' feedback will play a role in defining new business models in the aviation industry.
